If you are considering an electric dirt bike, you have come to the right place. First a little info:
The electric dirt bikes featured on this website are basically stripped versions of a motocross bike with an elecric motor instead of gas powered. They are a perfect introduction for a teenager who is interesting in motocross riding. Keep in mind though, these are not toys and are only recommended for pre teens and kids ages 12 and up, but normally cap out at 150 lbs for the rider. The speed will diminish dramatically with added weight. So dad, you may have to stick with your bigger gas powered dirt bike!
These electric dirt bikes do possessa powerful motor and can travel at speeds usually up to 14 MPH. Assuming you will be riding these on dirt trails, this is more than enough speed.
A single charge will normall power the bike for close to 10 miles or approxmiately 40 minutes on one charge. Another advantage the electric dirt bike has over its gas powered bigger brother is the motor is very quiet.
Assembly is usually fairly quick and easy. Most electric dirt bikes come pretty much assembeled, but there are a few steps you will have to do yourself. This should not take you more than 30 minutes though.
The electric dirt bikes are fairly sturdy for their price tag. I have had a razor for a few months and have seen it dropped and crashed several times and it keeps running.
Make sure whoever is riding the your electric dirt bike is always wearing the proper saftey equipment which includes helmet, gloves, and pads, if you crash in the dirt at top speed, you can still get scraped up pretty good.
Before purchase check and see if it is single speed. Most are, but you can find some that are variable speed. Keep in mind the age of the rider though because you do not want to make things to complictaed for them.
Another issue you may encounter is suspension. Many electric dirt bikes come with none. They have a hard tail and hard front fork. Some of the more pricer models will come with a suspension system and can haul up to 300 lbs, but you will pay a little more for this feature.
These are great little electric dirt bikes and are perfect for a rough and rowdy kid who loves to go fast. They look sharp like a real dirt bike but without the danger and price. Its a great intro to motocross riding.
